Holding Out For A Hero…

Nobody is meant to go through life alone. We all want someone to share our load with. Someone to talk to, to adventure with, to laugh at, to depend on. It’s an important position to fill, yet so many of us settle into relationships instead of looking for the ones that are best for us.
Why is that? Do we not care who we end up with? Do we not care about wasting time with the wrong people? I think oftentimes we fail to see the bigger picture. We get lonely and go for whatever comes along, instead of holding out for what’s best for us. Holding out for a hero…

I’m sorry I had to hahah

I think the problem with a lot of people my age is that they’re not asking the right questions. I know I’ve fallen victim to it countless times. You think, “I like him/her.” But why?
What are his/her beliefs? Do you share those beliefs? Do you mind not sharing them? What is he/she passionate about? What can he/she talk about for hours? What makes his/her eyes light up? What makes him/her laugh? What makes him/her cry? What inspires him/her? What moves him/her? What are his/her favorite books, movies, and tv shows? Why?
Do you like him/her for all these reasons, or because of his/her appearance?

Asking all these questions may seem “picky,” but aren’t you worth it? Don’t you deserve to be picky?
It is my firm belief that we all deserve the best. We deserve to be with that person who is going to make us better, who will inspire us to be the best that we can be, and we’re not going to find that person without asking the tough questions. There is no need for you to settle.

Don’t be afraid of being choosy. Dare to live on your own until the right person comes along. I promise you’re strong enough to do so. Don’t settle.
I’ve heard that it’s pretty great when you find that person who compliments you perfectly. Until then, you and I can be in this together 😉

Stay sweet,
Caroline

Love Came Down…

It’s Christmas Eve, my favorite day of the year. I have plenty to do to prepare for the festivities tonight and tomorrow will bring. Yet I find myself stopping to write down a few thoughts. Today I am reminded of God’s overwhelming love.
I look at my life and the lives of so many people around me and I can see how broken we are. We live in a broken world full of broken people. We long for something to hope for, something to believe in, yet oftentimes we don’t look very hard before giving up the search.

“For God so loved the world that he gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3:16

Jesus came down to this messy earth we call home for us. Because he so loved us. I know this, but do the people around me know it? Do I do enough to share that hope and that love with everyone I come into contact with? I have hope in an eternal life with my Savior, the Creator of the universe, but how many other people know I do?

My wish this Christmas is that we all take a moment to step away from the hustle and bustle, the tons of gifts under the tree, the cooking, the cleaning, the prepping for guests, and remember and share with others why we are able to live with such Joy in the first place.
Jesus is the Joy of the world. Jesus is the Peace we all crave. And we can have that joy, hope, love, and peace that surpasses all understanding if we simply seek Him.

“For to us a child is born, to us a Son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” – Isaiah 9:6

Stay sweet and merry Christmas,
